If you’ve never played Ark with mods, you are missing out on new experiences. Mods introduce new dinos, maps, weapons, and buildables that can bring your server more life and unique challenges. While mods used to be something only private servers could host, Studio Wildcard has allowed everyone to enjoy mods.
Its new Modded Official Servers have opened their doors–albeit only a crack. Curious about which top modded official servers you should explore? I’ve rounded up something for everyone.
Bottom Line Up Front – Wildcard Teases Modded Official Servers
As everyone knows, getting into a brand-new server is a first-come, first-serve deal. To get access fast, take a quick look at the top Modded Official Servers based on server type.

Modded Official Servers Could be the New Way to Play Ark: Survival Ascended
Ark has its share of bugs, crashes, and glitches. So, it makes sense that Wildcard is slowly unveiling new mods on its Official Modded Servers. The first mod to hit official servers is the Additions Ascended collection. It brings 7 new dinos to all the servers.
These dinosaurs include:
The developers are likely using the Official Modded Servers to see how the players handle them. If the process goes smoothly, then Wildcard will likely add more and more in the future. They’ve already approved over 100 mods.
Now, it’s just a matter of when these mods will come to Modded Official Servers.
It may also be a way for Ark to test new events. If certain events are a hit, they might go to Unmodded Official Servers. Either way, it’s an exciting time to be an Ark survivor.
Best Modded Official Servers in Ark: Survival Ascended – Get Comfy with Company
Since Modded Official Servers are a brand new thing Wildcard is trying, only a handful are available to join. That means you can expect long wait times to join these servers. After popping into as many as I could, I got the general vibe of the server and just how built up each one is so far.
If you want to join a Modded Official Server, try to get into one of the following.
Best NA PVP Modded Server – 100
- Server Type: PVP
- Pros: Friendly, open space, still time for beginners to get their foot in.
- Cons: Some tribes already have decent battle dinos and may need to travel in the Snow Biome to find a spot for a base.
NA PVP 100 has the honor of being the first Modded Official Server. It’s PVP, so if you want to fight and compete with other players, this is the server for you.
One thing I noticed right off the bat is that it’s packed. You may be sitting around for a while to get in. However, once you get in, you’ll find that there are still plenty of spaces open for base building. The frozen area around the Blue Obelisk, in particular, was still mostly empty.
That said, people were hard at work taming the best battle dinos, especially the new ones from the mods. If you want to join and compete, then you better hit the ground running.
Best NA PVE Modded Server – 102
- Server Type: PVE
- Pros: Not too far developed, friendly chat, not too heavily pillared deeper inland.
- Cons: Beach areas were already pillared.
I was pleasantly surprised with how easily I could load into the NA PVE 102 server. It wasn’t full at the time, and the conversations occurring in the chat were helpful rather than toxic. The building on this server was less advanced than some of the other modded servers, so everyone is still in the beginner stages of development.
That makes it an excellent choice for beginners looking for an ideal spot to claim.
Only a few players have tamed the new, modded, dinos already. So, if you need some advice on how to tame the new dinos, some players might be able to help.
I liked this server for its ease of access, however. If you’re looking for a less complicated server to load into, check out 102.
Best EU PVP Modded Server – 105
- Server Type: PVP
- Pros: Friendly chat, still room for beginners, easy to access.
- Cons: Lots of pillaring on beaches, some toxic players.
If you’re in the EU region and love PVP, you should check out Modded Server 105. It has its usual trash-talkers, but by and large, people weren’t being too toxic. Much like the NA PVP 100 server, many players have built defenses and tamed battle dinos.
The reason this modded server makes the list is because of the community. While I was exploring the island, I saw the majority of players offering advice and answering questions. If you’re looking for a friendly community of PVP players, stop by 105.
That said, you may find a place to build a bit difficult. Pillaring was common, especially around the coastlines. Finding an ideal spot for your base may take a while.
Best EU PVE Modded Server – 107
- Server Type: PVE
- Pros: Not heavily pillared, relaxed atmosphere, plenty of modded dinos to tame.
- Cons: Lack of chatting might result in a lack of community.
Another server that was easy to access was EU PVE 107. It had less than half the total players online, so loading in was fine. One aspect that immediately caught my notice was how quiet the chat was. Other than a few questions here and there, everyone seemed occupied doing their own thing.
I caught sight of a few of the modded dinos–one which promptly killed me–but noticed only a handful of players had actually tamed these new dinos so far.
Another remarkable aspect I noticed was the lack of over-pillaring. More importantly, players saving space for future developments were smartly using pillars over foundations. Even those players, however, weren’t claiming vast chunks of land.
Overall, the server appeared relaxed with considerate players.
Friendly people, pretty quiet, no overt pillaring
How do You Join a Modded Official Server in Ark: Survival Ascended?
While Wildcard has only implemented a few mods so far, it won’t be long before they’re introducing Modded Servers with exciting challenges, new dinos, and perhaps even new maps. If you want to experience these adventures for yourself, then Wildcard has made it extremely easy to join.
All you need to do is type “Modded” in the search bar when looking up servers. A list of modded servers will appear. Choose one that interests you, and a new menu will appear.
The menu shows you what mods the server is using. You can then join the server, which will automatically install the mods. Once it’s finished, you’ll join the server.
It’s a seamless way of using mods without the hassle of downloading and extracting files into particular folders. If you’ve ever wanted to try out mods on Ark, then there’s no better time.
