The Forest Weapons Guide

The Forest is an open-world survival game that puts players in the shoes of an anguished father desperate to find his son after a crash landing on a mysterious island. As players begin to explore the island, they will soon realize that they are not alone on the island and that there is a lot more going on here than normal. At its core, The Forest is a survival game. Players will need to survive. They will need to adapt to the many situations that The Forest will place them in to do this.

Most of these situations can be resolved by using the ax that players begin the game with. We can only imagine this is because the creators, Endnight Games, wanted to deliver an experience where players would need to use their wits and survival instincts over all else in the game. When players first start their adventure, they will see themselves in the middle of the crash site.

Players will need to learn to craft to survive properly. When crafting, players will be able to build shelters that will aid them during the night portions of the game. During the night, players will see natives of the island running amok. Every single person that you discover will be hostile.

Thick forest

Make sense since they are a cannibalistic group, which means that you’ll need to be careful when exploring at night. If you’re not at your base, then you could quickly be overwhelmed and attacked by them, which could leave you in a pretty bad spot. Dying in The Forest will return you to your base without your gear.

Despite the game revolving around survival, players will still be able to discover new weapons. These weapons are meant to provide players with an added sense of security, allowing them to dive deeper into The Forest and explore some of its more dangerous areas. It will also help them hunt and capture more games to keep their stomach full and their thirst quenched.

Some of these weapons will be simple. Just items that you can craft with wood and some stones. But as you explore The Forest, you will soon discover that you are not alone, and more modern tools and weapons will become available to you.

Weapons in The Forest genuinely show their worth when players set out to explore the expansive caves that The Forest offers. Some of these caves will require players to arm themselves before heading in. Meaning that if you think that just going with your torch and starting ax is enough, then you might be in for a rude awakening.

Either way, in this The Forest Weapons guide, we’re going to you find these weapons if you hope to see your son and uncover the secrets of the island.

Basic Weapons

Basic Weapons in The Forest will allow you to get your start in The Forest. They will be helpful when crafting and killing some of the more basic enemies. They are perfect for your first few nights in The Forest and the first few caves that you will need to explore.

These are all the basic weapons that you will find in The Forest:

Plane Axe

The Plane Axe is the very first weapon that you will find in The Forest. It’s located on the plane that you crash land into The Forest with. It is extremely helpful for cutting down trees which you can use to craft things such as shelters. You can also use it to kill some of the enemies that you will find in The Forest, but due to its short-range, you’ll need to be quick about your strikes.

This will be your bread and butter for survival. You’ll be able to fend off enemies with it, and you can even wrap it with a cloth to light it on fire and use it as a torch or as a flaming weapon. As you progress through the game, you will find better versions of the ax that you can use more efficiently.

Slingshot

The slingshot will allow you to use small rocks as weapons. This is incredibly useful because small rocks are easy to come by, which means you’ll almost always have ammo for this weapon. This weapon is extremely helpful for hunting. Most of the animals in The Forest will be smaller mammals like deers and squirrels.

This means that if you get too close, you will alert them and scare them off. The Slingshot will help you get some hits in at a distance. Unfortunately, most animals will need multiple hits to kill. Something hard to do with the basic slingshot. Players can craft it using one stick, one cloth, and one roll of electrical tape.

You will also need to craft a small rock bag to hold the rocks you will be slinging. You can do this by using one rabbit fur and one piece of rope.

Utility Weapons

Utility Weapons will allow players to discover more areas of The Forest and explore some of the more difficult caves. These are weapons that are indispensable and will need to be found. You won’t be able to craft any of the Utility Weapons.

Climbing Axe

The Climbing Axe is essential for players that wish to progress the story. It is the only weapon in The Forest that also functions as a tool for traversal. While exploring The Forest, you will find many different walls that you will be able to climb with the help of the climbing ax.

Chainsaw

The best tool that you can use to cut down trees. The Chainsaw will allow you to collect dozens of logs within minutes. Especially in multiplayer when you have multiple people with a chainsaw. I’ve personally made it so that two players focus on cutting down trees and two other players focus on crafting a base.

This weapon will completely change the way you craft. It will require fuel to work, but finding it is pretty straightforward. The Chainsaw will allow you to cut down trees in no time, which means that you’ll be able to build more elaborate shelters and cut through enemies more quickly.

Flare Gun

The Flare Gun will allow players to do two very important things. Light up a cave easily for a few seconds and light some of the stronger mutants on fire. This means that while you do damage, you will be able to look around for an escape route.

The Flare Gun can be found in the northeastern part of the island, inside the cockpit of the crashed helicopter. Unfortunately, this area is in the snow, which means you’ll need to craft a warm suit before you can start exploring this area.

Makeshift Weapons & Throwables

There are plenty of weapons in The Forest that players will be able to craft or even throw. These makeshift weapons will allow players to create disposable weapons that can be used to hold off enemies or even hunt more efficiently.

Here are the weapons that players will be able to craft themselves.

Crafted Axe

Can be used to cut down trees or as a weapon. Players can craft it by using one stick, one rock, and one rope.

Weak Spear

The weak spear will be your best option for new players looking to go hunting. It’s useful for catching fish, and you can use it to throw at different animals walking around. You can craft it by using two sticks.

Crafted Bow

The crafted bow is the next step in stealth tactics for hunting both prey and predators. You can use them against enemies, and they can help you land your next meal. First, you’ll need to craft arrows which you can do by putting together one stick and one feather. The bow itself will take one rope, one stick, and one cloth.

Crafted Club

The crafted club packs a punch and can be used to deliver a lot of damage to your enemies. To craft it, all you need is one stick and one skull.

Molotov

The Molotov will be crucial for players later in the game. Thankfully it’s pretty easy to craft early on. It allows players to throw a firebomb on unsuspecting enemies, which is one of the best forms of damage in The Forest. To craft it, players will need one cloth and one booze. To craft a Molotov trap, players can add three cloths to the equation.

Bomb

A bomb is the ultimate form of firepower in The Forest. It’s the item that does the most amount of damage in The Forest but crafting it will take a few of the more hard-to-find items. Players will need to use one booze, one circuit board, one coin, one wristwatch, and one electrical tape.

Sticky Bomb

To make a sticky bomb, players will need to combine one bomb and one sap. These can be used to stick near enemies or even to stick on trees for unsuspecting mutants.

Head Bomb

To make a head bomb, players will need to combine one head and one bomb. The Head Bomb is the ultimate version of the bomb. It does the most amount of damage in the game, but at the cost of throwing range. So it makes it a little harder to use but definitely worth it for some of the harder enemies.

Unique Weapons

Crossbow

This is the most potent ranged weapon in the game. I would also place this above the Flintlock Pistol because of how easy it is to wield and because you can get ammo at a moment’s notice.

Machete

The Machete is a fantastic weapon that doesn’t take too much stamina for players to use.

Katana

The Katana is another great weapon that can be swung quickly and doesn’t take too much stamina. It also has a great range which means players can dismember enemies at a distance.

Tennis Racket

The Tennis Racket is more of a novelty than an actual weapon. It doesn’t do too much damage, but it is easy to swing.

Flintlock Pistol

The Flintlock Pistol is the most accurate and powerful ranged weapon players will be able to find in The Forest.

Dynamite

Dynamite can actually be used to clear up some pathways and uncover the dirt mounds that hold the Flintlock Pistol parts.

Modern Bow

The Modern Bow is one of the strongest ranged weapons in the game. It is capable of taking down deer quickly, which means players will be able to hunt more efficiently. It is also capable of doing headshot damage to enemies.

Modern Axe

The Moden Axe is the best version of the ax in the game. It does five bars of damage to enemies and can cut down trees with ease. It blocks most of the damage dealt with players when used as a shield, but it does take quite a bit of stamina to wield.

Rusty Axe

The Rusty Axe is a great weapon to use as a shield. It blocks 100% of damage, which means that players can have it handy in tough battles to allow them more room to breathe.

Quest for the Flintlock Pistol

To find the Flintlock Pistol, you will need to find eight different parts scattered around the island. Here is where you can find those parts.

You will need to look for dirt mounds around the island. Once you find these mounds, you will need to use explosives to blow up the mounds and uncover what’s underneath them. The first part that you will need to locate is the barrel of the Flintlock Pistol. To find it, you will need to make your way to the southeastern part of the map. You will find it on the edge of the cliff overlooking the ocean.

The next piece of the Flintlock Pistol that you will want to find is the side plate. You will be able to find this part in the southwestern part of the map, where you find the large tree overlooking the ocean. Make your way to this tree, and you should see the dirt mount near it, closer to the ocean side. The third part of the Flintlock Pistol will be the rod. You’ll need to head to the southern region of the map, near one of the lakes. You’ll find it inside one of the huts of the village near the lake.

The fourth part of the Flintlock Pistol will be the cock. It will be the northwestern part of the map near the river area. Follow the river all the way to the edge of the ocean. You’ll see a village around here. You’ll find the mound of dirt close to some sharks.

The second half of the Flintlock Pistol will all be on the northern and western sides of the map. The fifth part that you will look for will be the trigger. You will find this part on the western side of the map near the giant sinkhole.

There is a lake near here, and you’ll find the mound of dirt for this part near there. The sixth part of the Flintlock Pistol will be the spring. You will find this part on the islands in the northwestern part of the map.

There will be some containers near the edge of the island where you can start swimming to get to the island. You just need to swim here, and you’ll see the dirt mound. The seventh part of the Flintlock Pistol that you will need to find is the flint. You’ll be able to find this in the northern snow area of The Forest. The dirt mound will be near the small lake in the snow.

The last part that you will need to complete the Flintlock Pistol will be the jaw. To find it, you will need to make your way to the most northwestern part of the map. North from where you found the fourth part. There will be a cliff, and you’ll find the dirt mound here.

Find all these parts, and the Flintlock Pistol will be yours.

Some weapons in The Forest will be used as valuable tools around the island. Here’s what you can expect from the different weapons you will find and how you repurpose them to help you explore the world of The Forest.

FAQ

Question: Where can you find the Flintlock Pistol?

Answer: No, you will not need the Flintlock Pistol. You can progress through the story generally without needing to acquire the Flintlock Pistol. The Flintlock Pistol is only a cool extra for players to discover.

Unlocking it will require players to explore more thoroughly. It’s a very powerful weapon that may seem like an easy mode for players, so unlocking it is completely optional and can be used to beat some of the more tough caves with ease.

Question: Will enemies be able to use more modern weapons as well?

Answer: No, enemies will not use any modern weapons. All the enemies that you encounter will use clubs, spears, and their brute strength. Especially in some of the more late-game caves where you will face some of the more complex mutants. Most enemies are meant to do physical damage and use their surroundings to their advantage. This allows The Forest to really give the feeling that the player is the only person from the modern world on the island.

Question: When you find a weapon, does everyone in your lobby findthe weapon?

Answer: No, when you find a weapon, it means that only you unlock it. If you are playing multiplayer with other friends, then they will also need to head to your location to discover this weapon. Crafted weapons can be shared by just informing your lobby about the items they will need. You can also share your crafted weapons with your friends by using the metal tray available to players in multiplayer.

Conclusion

The Forest is a fantastic horror survival game where you will need to use everything at your disposal to ensure that you survive and find your son. I recommend exploring as much as you can, seeing as this will be the only way to play through the story truly. The Forest throws you into its world without any sort of guidance.

You’ll need to discover things on your own, and the only thing helping you with your search for your son is your trusty notebook. Here you will be able to write certain points of interest that you find and different things that you will be able to craft.

Although The Forest is focused on its general survival and crafting, you will also be able to find some pretty awesome weapons that will help you along your journey. Some of these weapons include the Flintlock Pistol, which will help you scare off the cannibals around the island and take down some of the more gruesome mutants.
